Been thinking about the politics of image making a lot lately, and this BBC doc provides a good piece of theoretical groundwork. The whole documentary is worth a peep, but I found this chapter particularly interesting
PERFORMING
Keep sharp
as you slog
through the muck of the swamp
and be weary
of those who promise
you great fortune
yet ask of you little investment.

you might find yourself
the alligator
at the theme park
happy in the cool
of the muddy water
fat with regular servings
of delicious meats
yet unaware that your job
is to be wrestled into submission
day after day
by a man whose name you do not know
to the delight of cheering tourists
whose objective
you just can’t seem to understand.
